Bridge River Valley reunion looks like a go!

Dear Editor,

Regarding the Bridge River Valley reunion, I've gathered bits and bites of information regarding the reunion and it appears that it's a go.

article continues below

We had things to consider this year such as a local Bralorne girl is getting married and using the Bralorne Hall for her reception this year. She contacted me months ago to be sure it was OK and I assured her that her plans would come first and we, being retired, could work around this.

Bob Snyder tells me he has a number of names of people wishing to go up to Bralorne and camp at the Gun Creek area (Minto area), the Gold Bridge area, the ballpark in Bralorne and others that are all free or very inexpensive. I'm thinking also of people with motor homes.

So here's our tentative plan. It's designed without the use of meal tickets this year. I'm waiting for your suggestions with any ideas.

Thursday, July 29- All the island people want to travel this day because ferry passengers are free on this day. So we'll travel up through the Pemberton-Lillooet Road into Bralorne and arrive late afternoon or stay overnight in Lillooet.

Friday, July 30- Your day to nose around and get settled. Beer, wine, etc. :)

Saturday, July 31- Reunion day from around 1-5 pm. at the Gold bridge Community Centre (at the dam) with refreshments and sandwiches.

Sunday, Aug. 1- Golf, like last year only with more people, and maybe the Mineshaft Pub for dinner from their menu.

Monday, Aug. 2- Your day to do whatever you want. Some might want to travel home.

Tuesday, Aug. 3- There will probably be a family service for Robert McLellan at the Gold Bridge cemetery. We are invited but the family has requested a portion of this to be family only. More details will follow. Some of us who wish to attend will want to leave later that day to begin the journey home, the rest of us can continue with our holiday.

I hope there are no forest fires this year. Lynne didn't like that smoke and I hope lots of people can make it to this reunion. We had a ball last year.

So book your rooms for the days you want. The planned events will be the days we've stated but the times and location may change.

I can be reached at 250-592-5238 or rayhoward@shaw.ca.
