Local hockey fans and local businesses should make note of Saturday, Mar. 16 on their calendars.
That’s the first day of the Tier 4 Championships hosted by Lillooet’s Pee Wee Pistons at the REC Centre. The tournament continues into the following Wednesday or Thursday (depending on the number of teams participating.)
At least four out-of-town teams will be traveling to Lillooet and staying for a minimum of four nights, taking advantage of the accommodation and services Lillooet has to offer, says Bailey Stone, tournament chair and pee wee T4 team manager.
She said this is the first time this edition of the Pistons will be showcased at such a high-profile event.
“This is new for them and we think it’s going to be exciting,” added Stone.
Teams that qualify to play in the Tier 4 Championships will be coming from zone winners within B.C. and from Yukon.
The host Lillooet Pee Wees have 15 players, ranging in age from 10 to 13 years old. The Tier 4s are integrated, meaning both boys and girls will be competing in the games.
The event will include a banquet on the Saturday night that includes dinner for all teams and team officials.
Bailey Stone added that toques, souvenirs and other paraphernalia will also be available for sale online.
