C. difficile outbreak at London hospital; 5 patients affected, 3 still in hospital

LONDON, Ont. - Hospital officials in London, Ont., are dealing with an outbreak of C. difficile.

Victoria Hospital says of the five patients who displayed symptoms, two have been discharged and three remain in the unit where the outbreak occurred.

The patients who remain in hospital have been placed in private rooms.

Outbreak signs have been placed on the unit, and information has been provided for families and visitors.

C. difficile is a bacteria that grows in the bowel and can cause diarrhea and serious intestinal conditions.
