Christie's to auction Renoir's nude painting 'Bagneuse,' estimated at up to $28 million

LONDON - Christie's auction house says it will sell Pierre-Auguste Renoir's Impressionist nude "Bagneuse" ("Bather"), which is valued at between 12 million pounds and 18 million pounds ($18 million and $28 million).

The French master's 1888 painting is part of a June 20 sale of Impressionist and modern art at Christie's in London. The auction also includes Pablo Picasso's "Femme au Chien," valued at between 6 million pounds and 9 million pounds ($9 million and $14 million), and works by Paul Gauguin, Edgar Degas and Rene Magritte.

The Renoir painting was last sold in 1997 for $20.9 million, a record for a nude by the artist.
