Lillooet RCMP responded to several bear-related incidents over the past week, including everything from a bear hanging around in yards to accidents and even mischief complaints. Police ask that everyone do their part to ensure that garbage is picked up and stored in an appropriate bear proof container.
Please use caution when traveling on local roads as bears are doing all they can at the moment to pack on much-needed fat reserves to ensure they make it through the winter. We live in an area that is rich in wildlife and slowing down on the roads often avoids collisions with wildlife that can cause injury or death to the animals or to people.
