Drunks taken into custody
Lillooet RCMP officers responded to several reports of intoxicated individuals in the Lillooet area. Several adults were lodged in Lillooet RCMP cells as a result. Once they were sober enough to care for themselves, they were released with various fines under the Liquor Control and Licensing Act.
AUG. 19
Foot run over
Lillooet RCMP responded to a report of a male who had his foot run over by a vehicle. The matter was investigated and one male had been transported to the Lillooet hospital for examination due to injuries sustained in the incident. The matter is still under investigation by the Stl’atl’imx Tribal Police as this incident took place in their response area.
Info sought on gun incidents
Lillooet RCMP are asking the assistance of the public to identify the person responsible for discharging a firearm in the Gun Lake and Gold Bridge area. In one incident a sign was hit multiple times by a small calibre firearm. If you have any information that would assist in locating the person responsible, please contact the local RCMP. Please refer to police file number 2012-1549.
AUG. 22
Suspect finds hidden keys, steals vehicle
Lillooet RCMP responded to a report of a stolen vehicle. A short time later the vehicle was located abandoned in another Lillooet location. In this case the owner had left a set of keys for the vehicle hidden inside. The suspect located the keys and then made off with the vehicle.
Police are asking all vehicle owners to secure their vehicles and to not hide a key in or under their vehicle as there is at least one person in the area who is actively looking to take advantage of these situations. In this case the vehicle was recovered quickly and without damage; however, this is not always the case.
AUG. 23
Vehicle pursuit ends with arrest
A Lillooet RCMP officer on routine patrol spotted a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on Main Street. The officer attempted to stop the vehicle and a short pursuit ensued. A male was arrested a short time later and is now facing several criminal and Motor Vehicle Act charges. The matter is still under investigation and additional charges may be filed.
