What’s better than a sunny summer day, a gentle breeze off the water and a lake where the trout are biting?
Lillooet Lions Club member Anne Heath reports conditions were perfect Aug. 19 for the club’s 19th Annual Fishing Derby.
With a fish measuring 16 ¾ inches, Ginger Kuzyk from Cache Creek was the winner of the $500 EM and FJ Heath Memorial Prize for the longest fish. The second longest fish was caught by Nick McCabe and the third longest by Chris McCabe.
Marcus Papst won a 30-minute plane ride for two courtesy of Chris Strube, Al Dreyer won a helicopter ride for four from Blackcomb Helicopters and Merritt’s Jonathan Yanciw won dinner for four courtesy Lion Kevin Goforth.
The competition drew anglers from several points in the southern interior, with the farthest traveler coming here from Quesnel.
