JobFest 2012 is coming to Lillooet Aug. 24

Calling all young job-seekers – JobFest 2012 is coming to Lillooet.

While some details remain to be finalized, Lillooet is one of 50 stops in northern and southern BC for JobFest’s spring to fall tour. The event will be held here Friday, Aug. 24 from 2 to 8 p.m.

Created by the provincial Ministry of Jobs, Tourism and Innovation, the goal of JobFest is to engage with youth in a fun and entertaining way (live bands will be performing) while delivering labour market information and showcasing six career exploration tools developed by the ministry.

Participants will be introduced to career options through face-to-face discussions with the event’s youthful presenters, guest speakers, career tools, interactive games and other career-related information. DVDs, t-shirts and other JobFest-related items will be given away as souvenirs of the event.

Information will be available on BC job trends in more than 500 potential careers, jobs in the province’s resource trades, undergraduate program availability and post-secondary education options. Apps will be available for youth who want to quiz themselves to match their abilities to work preferences or to test their skills and knowledge about what it takes to run a successful business.
