Christmas is still six months away, but the Squamish-Lillooet Regional District Board was in a giving mood at its regular and committee meetings last month.

Lillooet Secondary School’s Dry Grad Celebration received $400 from Area A (Gold Bridge-Bralorne) select funds.
The Bridge River Valley Economic Development Society (BRVEDS) received a $5,000 grant from Area A select funds. The money will be used to assist the society with the costs associated with the dissolution of the Bralorne-Bridge River Valley Community Association (BBRVCA) and the transfer of assets from the BBRVCA to the BRVEDS.

A total of $500 from Area B select funds was granted to the Fountain Valley Wildfire Action Committee.
Additionally, $2,000 from Area B select funds will be contributed to the Lillooet Community Bursary Fund, for one or more graduating high school students, after terms of the bursary are defined.

In other SLRD news, staff were directed to research applicable regulations and outline the options for maintenance and management of the dock at Anderson Lake.

Also, Ryan Wainwright, Emergency Planning Coordinator, was commended for his work with the Ts'kw'aylaxw First Nation Emergency Operations Committee.
