Support for Guaranteed Rugged

To the Editor,

(In response to Leigh McGinity's letter to the Editor in the May 23 edition of the Lillooet News)

There has been so much negativity surrounding our town's branding. I just wanted to give my perspective and that of many others that I have talked to because I like that we are Guaranteed Rugged.

I love that Leigh has defined the word Rugged and as I do not necessarily believe that it defines the town itself, I think that it describes our surrounding area perfectly. Our mountains are definitely craggy, difficult, irregular, jagged, uneven... I think that regardless of our branding, when visitors come to Lillooet and experience everything we have to offer, our branding is irrelevant.

I can completely understand where the people you are talking about are coming from and I respect their opinion, but their opinion does not represent us all.

I really do not believe that your friends are moving to the Sunshine Coast due to our branding versus theirs. They are going to be in for a big surprise. I can think of a lot sunnier places than the Sunshine Coast – now that is false branding.

Cheers,

Ailsa Wolfe
