Two males from the Seton-Shalalth area are facing multiple charges after bizarre incidents involving a vehicle tricked up to resemble a police vehicle.
Stl’atl’imx Tribal Police and Lillooet RCMP received reports of persons using a modified golf cart with red and blue flashing lights to pull over motorists. The drivers were then asked to provide their licences and registration before being sent on their way by the fake police officers, who were not wearing uniforms. Motorists were not asked to hand over any money or harmed in any way.
Last week, a Tribal Police officer who drove over to Seton to investigate the complaints was on his way home on Mission Mountain Road around 3 a.m. After spotting an approaching vehicle with flashing lights, the constable activated his video recorder to film the approaching vehicle and its occupants. After he finished filming, the constable ‘lit up’ the two men and their vehicle with his car lights and placed them under arrest.
The two suspects were arrested for multiple offences and the golf cart was impounded.
