Vehicle stolen at gunpoint on Highway 40

Police seek three suspects, 1994 Voyager mini van

Police are looking for three men and a stolen green 1994 Plymouth Voyager mini van, BC licence plate 898 PRB, after the van was high-jacked at gunpoint.

The theft occurred Saturday evening on a remote part of Highway 40 between Lillooet and Gold Bridge. The incident was reported just after 8 p.m.

The victim told police he spotted three males stopped at the side of the road with a broken-down white pickup truck with what appeared to be a flat tire. When he stopped to offer assistance, one of the men approached his vehicle with a rifle and ordered him to exit the vehicle.

The victim was then instructed to walk away from the scene. He was told he would be shot if he was seen again on the highway.

The suspects are all said to be Caucasian males with blue eyes. They were wearing jeans and dark-coloured hoodies with bandanas covering their faces.

The gun was described as a long gun, possible semi-automatic, with a metallic barrel with a black stock.

For any tips or if you have any information regarding this matter, please contact the Lillooet RCMP or Crime Stoppers (1.800.222.8477) and refer to Lillooet RCMP file 2012-903.

All people traveling remote highways are urged to please be cautious. Do not stop for suspicious vehicles or people. Call police if necessary.
