The Second Annual Jim Fraser Memorial Hockey Tournament was held Oct 28-30. Seven teams laced them up and hit the ice for this year’s event. The tournament consisted of three teams in the A-Division and four teams in the B-Division.
Although no official teams were from out of town this year, many players traveled to Lillooet to play on the local teams. The Stone Brothers, Reynolds and Camel Toes made up the teams in the A-Division.
The Reynolds beat the Camel Toes 5-3 on Friday night, The Stone Bro’s won 11-1 over the shorthanded Camel Toes (a few players away or injured). The Stone Bro’s punched their ticket to the A Final with a 6-3 win over the Reynolds. The Reynolds beat the Camel Toes 7-0 in the A-semi final to earn a rematch with the Stone Bro’s.
The A-Final was a goaltending duel, as Reynolds goalie Adam Butt and Stone Bro’s goalie Matt McCabe were both sharp. The Stone Bro’s won the game 2-1 with Cory DeKelver and Cole Sheridan scoring the goals, Creigh Sullivan, Kyle Hallet and Dominec Alec picked up assists.
Denny Higginbottom tallied for the Reynolds, set up by Darrell Coldwell and Dwayne Paradis. In the B-Division, the Rec B squad scored wins in their three games to get a berth in the B-Final with a 7-3 win over the Fraser’s Boys, 7-4 over Oldtimers Red and a 5-2 victory over Oldtimers Blue.
Fraser’s Boys beat the Oldtimers Blue 10-5 and the Oldtimers Red 7-3 to reach the B-Final. The Oldtimers Red edged the Oldtimers Blue 7-6 to round out the B-Division games. In the B-Final, the Fraser’s Boys got their revenge, beating the Rec B squad 5-3. Brian Stone had the hat trick and Al Crane and Pat Sullivan also tallied for team Fraser. Assists went to Ray Kennedy with three, Todd Kennedy with two, and Steve Alain and Brock Fraser each adding one helper.
Shay Koski, Riley Harder and Andrew Fandrich scored goals for the Rec B squad and Braden Fandrich, Dalton Manuel and Brett Dillion each had assists.
