With the hockey season in full swing, Lillooet Minor Hockey Association president Mike Carson reports “things are going well.”
Carson said the number of participants for minor hockey this year is similar to last year’s participation rate.
The first tournament will be held in mid-January when the Lillooet peewees take to the ice. That will be followed by a Jamboree for girls 13 and under from all over BC.
“We’ll mix them up, put them on a team and let them play,” said Carson.
The novice tourney is scheduled for the second weekend in February, to be followed by the atoms tournament the last weekend in February.
Carson said three Lillooet teams are also involved in league play this season and a couple of teams are playing exhibition games to hone their skills.
Prior to the start of this season, Lillooet Minor Hockey sent out a plea for coaches, managers and referees as well as people to serve on the organization’s executive.
“We’re good with the coaches and managers, but there are definitely some positions to be filled on the board,” said Carson.
