VANOC released Thursday a (nearly) complete list of this Saturday’s Olympic torchbearers, including the runners who are carrying the torch in the Lillooet area.
Saturday is Day 100 out of 106 on the Olympic torch relay. The day will start in Whistler and end in Merritt, with an afternoon celebration at Old Mill Plaza in Lillooet and an evening celebration at Merritt’s Voght Park.
In total, there are 106 torchbearers scheduled for Day 100, travelling 367 kilometres. Each torchbearer will carry the Olympic flame for a distance of about 300 metres, with the rest of the distance being covered by car.
Most of those runners’ names are now available. However, the identities of the torchbearers who will light cauldrons aping the Olympic opening ceremony on Feb. 12 at the Merritt and Lillooet celebrations remain a secret.
The following is the list of Day 100 torchbearers and where they are running as of Feb. 4, though VANOC cautions that the list is still subject to change before Saturday:
