Copper wire stolen

Between Jan. 15 and 21, an unknown thief cut the chain on the gate to the Bridge River hydro substation.

The thief (or thieves) stole approximately 30 meters of copper weld wire.

Police would be interested in hearing about anyone trying to sell copper wire in the community.

Dogs hostile and unleashed

A woman and child were walking their own dog along Main Street when a group of several unleashed dogs came up to them.

Several of the dogs were growling and one of them attacked their dog. The dog wasn’t seriously injured.

The owner of the aggressive dog was located by police and spoken to. The owner has agreed to keep her dog on a leash in the future.

No charges from Hotel Vic fight

Police responded to a fight on Main Street outside of the Hotel Victoria.

When officers arrived, they learned that a man and woman involved in the altercation had left before police arrived. The two other people involved were still there and weren’t injured.

There had been a physical altercation and some threats between the two groups. Alcohol was a factor.

All parties left and went home. Charges are not being pursued.

Sometime in the early morning, an unknown suspect entered a vehicle on Panorama Terrace.

Fortunately, nothing of value was left in the vehicle, so nothing was taken.

The owner had left the vehicle unlocked so there was no damage. However, the vehicle had been riffled through.

Besides things they can sell, thieves are often looking to steal your registration papers since they list your name and address on them.

Criminals use this type of information for identify theft. Please lock your vehicles and remove anything valuable.

Mischief again at Cayoosh

Cayoosh elementary school is again having problems with vandalism.

Someone spray-painted one of the exterior walls over the previous weekend.

We again ask the school’s neighbours to be alert and call the police if they see anything suspicious around the school.
