The annual November Men's Rec Hockey Tourney was held from Nov. 6-8.
Four local teams and one team from Squamish competed.
The tournament consisted of a round robin format. The team with the best record would be crowned the champs.
Friday night saw the Winners Edge beating the Camel Toes 7-3 and the Stone Brothers beating the Reynolds 6-2.
On Saturday, Squamish beat the Camel Toes 8-1. The Winners Edge beat the Reynolds 9-0. The Stone Brothers beat Squamish 2-1. The Camels Toes beat the Reynolds 5-4. The Winners Edge beat the Stone Brothers 4-2.
Sunday games consisted of Squamish getting by the Reynolds 7-3. The Camel Toes tied the Stone Brothers 2-2. This tie ruined any chance for the Stone Brothers to be tourney champs.
How fitting it was that the last game of the round robin between Squamish and the unbeaten Winners Edge would decide who would be the tournament champs. A win or a tie for the Winners Edge and the title would be theirs.
Squamish jumped out to 2-0 lead after one period. The Winners Edge stormed back in the second period with a great goal by Brandon Moffat off a nice pass from Steve Alain. Two minutes later, Brandon and Wade Balbirnie set up Bill Poppy for a goal to tie the game. The Winners Edge Darrell Coldwell set up Poppy for a one timer in the slot that Jeff Harrison got a stick on for a deflection and a 3-2 lead going into the third period.
Squamish scored two goals in the third to take the lead. Winners Edge had some great chances to tie it but Squamish goalie Rob McNutt stopped them all.
With that victory Squamish won the tournament.
