Tank Hill car crash
Lytton RCMP investigated a motor vehicle incident on Highway 1 at the bottom of Tank Hill.
A male motorist travelling at a high rate of speed was not able to negotiate a turn, resulting in his vehicle being launched over a cement barricade into an adjacent ditch.
The male suffered minor injuries while his vehicle was damaged beyond practical repair.
June 16
Wife loses it
A male phoned 9-1-1 claiming his wife was losing it after he found her in their Adams Road residence yelling and screaming at the walls.
A Lytton member attended the home and located the female in a grossly intoxicated state; she was observed swearing to herself.
The female was arrested for breaching the peace and held in police custody overnight until sober.
June 17
Human remains found
An archaeologist phoned on behalf of the Nicomen First Nation to report the finding of human remains near the Nicomen River.
Police attended and observed bones protruding from the ground. The attending archaeologist determined the bones to be over 120 years of age.
At the direction of the coroner, permission was granted to members of the Nicomen reserve to repatriate the remains.
Drunk reported wandering
A complaint was made to the Lytton RCMP that a heavily intoxicated male was walking aimlessly around the Spences Bridge area.
Police attended and located the male staggering north on Highway 1. Police spoke with the unfamiliar male, who stated he was from Merritt. He was arrested for causing a disturbance and held in police custody until sober.
Upon his release, the male informed police that he had no recollection of his journey to the Lytton detachment cells. He was charged under the Liquor Control and Licensing Act for being intoxicated in a public place.
June 18
Can collector arrested
A Lytton member observed a male staggering down Third Street.
The male was followed into a nearby yard where he was observed collecting pop cans from a recycling receptacle. The male was approached and determined to be very intoxicated.
He was arrested by police for causing a disturbance and held in custody until sober. The male was fined under the Liquor Control and Licensing Act for being intoxicated in a public place.
June 19
Outhouse burning starts brush fire
Lytton RCMP was notified of a small brush fire burning near a residence on Peters Road.
A member attended and located an elderly woman who was suffering from smoke inhalation. The woman had been burning personal effects in an old outhouse on the property, which had sparked the blaze.
Police brought the woman to waiting paramedics for an evaluation while the B.C. Forest Service co-ordinated efforts to fight the fire. By the end of the day, after implementing water bombers and a sizeable work crew, the fire was fully extinguished.
Ride-less woman calls 9-1-1
An intoxicated woman requested her husband drive her into town. However, he refused because he had been drinking.
The female then solicited the services of neighbours, but again had no luck. Agitated, the female called 9-1-1 to vent her frustrations.
Police located the female in her home and arrested her for breaching the peace. She was held overnight in police custody and released the following morning without charges.
June 20
Highway 1 collision
A female driver travelling on Highway 1 north of Lytton made a poor decision when she decided to stop abruptly to make a left turn to a pullout across the highway.
The driver following behind her slammed on the brakes but was unable to avoid a collision. The male driver rear-ended her car. Both vehicles were damaged beyond repair. However, the occupants of the vehicles escaped with minor injuries.
The female driver was charged under the Motor Vehicle Act for driving without due care and attention.
June 21
School window broken
A security guard working at the new Stein Valley school informed police that earlier in the morning, one of the windows was smashed by a rock.
The security guard stated four to five males were seen in the area prior to the act of vandalism.
