QUESTION OF THE WEEK

Our View
New BRLN website debuts tomorrow

We are delighted to announce that as of tomorrow, our website, www.lillooetnews.net, will boast a number of improvements (frankly, they are nearly innumerable if one compares the new site to the old).

These new features will help you, our valued readers, get more involved in our community’s dialogue and interact with the News, too.

First off, it will now be possible to submit letters to the editor online, so sharing your thoughts with us will be as easy as clicking a mouse. And our ability to further share your thoughts with others has increased, too.

In recent months, we have been receiving a very healthy flow of letters every week. Unfortunately, that means we often do not have the space to fit them all in the next issue. However, letters that made the deadline but could not fit in our print edition will now be published online.

That way, readers will be able to find out what locals are talking about while they are still talking about it.

Speaking of conversation, our new website will also offer readers the chance to comment on articles after they are published.

Hopefully, this feature will allow the News to get immediate feedback, open up new lines of discussion, and ultimately learn something new (it is what we are here for, after all).

You may have noticed that this editorial page looks a bit different than usual. At the bottom of this column is this week’s online poll question. Vote at www.lillooetnews.net and the results will be published the following week, along with a new poll.

Voting may give you a crack at goodies and prizes from the News, too, but to be fair, those are merely vague illusions at this point. Stay tuned, nevertheless.

We also invite you to send us possible poll questions to editor@lillooetnews.net; you may see yours next week! Questions can be fun, serious, or anything in between, though sadly, we can only post one at a time at the moment.

Some stories in the print edition will receive additional coverage online. One major highlight: too often, we have more photos than we can make use of in print.

Now, the best of those extra shots will be posted in galleries as part of our new media centre (many stories will also include multiple pictures in the online version).

And, of course, if you see any photos you particularly like, in the ink or online, high-resolution prints are available at the News office for a small fee.

The former incarnation of our website was all the rage back when the ancient Romans discovered the Internet. But like those great empire-builders, its time has passed.

See you online!

Despite the fact that this article is written before several months, it is still interesting for me indeed. Maybe the main reason of such interest is that I have not known about the new BRLN website. Reading this entry I have found many new information about this site. Thanks a lot for the great information and I will be waiting for other great posts from you in the nearest future.
Regards, Peter Thompson from web application development
