Whistler Try a Tri

A group from Lillooet participated in Whistler’s “Try a Tri” on Saturday morning, May 23. Most of the group came from the REC Centre boot camp class, trained by Shelley Gunn, who placed 12th overall. The triathlon consisted of a 300-metre swim, 14-kilometre bicycle ride, and a four-kilometre run. Lillooet took home four medals in various age groups. The medal winners were: Shelley Gunn, Dana Hangle, Jacquetta Benard and Frances Friesen.

The Lillooet group, in order of their times: Shelley Gunn – 1:04:02, Jacquetta Benard – 1:15:10, Ronald Adolph – 1:16:40, Dana Hangle – 1:18:14, Francis Friesen – 1:26:41, Annessa Terry - 1:37:25, Ursula Adolph – 1:46:03, and Tammy Dillon 1:51:03. For many participants, it was indeed their first triathlon.
