Lytton River Festival 2012

A great time was had by all at the Lytton River Festival over the Labour Day weekend. Sunny skies and pleasant warm weather were the order of the day for the annual celebration of the Thompson and Fraser Rivers and their role in the community’s life and history. The Sage Hills Drum Group entertained festival-goers. The Band of the Royal Regiment marched down Main Street Saturday morning to help kick off the day’s fun. Fire Dancers (don’t try this at home) enthralled the crowd with their evening performances. Hands-on fun included totem pole carving and other traditional cultural activities. The climbing wall was a hit again, as was the street dance with Ghengis Ghandi. Activities included the street market, a balloon toss, kayak training, as well as a visit by outgoing PowWow Princess Josie Wells. All photos courtesy Jim Steer.
